Fishing holiday

Well, I made it through the 4th of July. We went fishing, only caught a bullhead and a perch. It was fun though. We have to do some work on the motor, something with the carburetors. Took the front cushions off so I can put on new vinal. I will do that today with Amanda's help.

The best thing was getting the boat into the water. I'll back up and tell you that when we got the boat we tinkered on it to fix this and that and make sure everything was okay and ready to go. I said to hubby maybe we should put a new rope on the reel that hooks to the boat cuz it looks realy weathered and old and he said I'll do that when we get to the lake and unload. ya okay. So we got to the lake started to unload. Hubby loosened up the reel, thought he had it locked and then when he started to back into the water I said "It is rolling off of the trailer." He stopped and said "Oh, I forgot to lock the reel." so he started to wind up the rope to pull the boat back onto the trailer. he didn't get it on too far and then said "I'll go back it up farther into the water, the rope should hold." He begins backing up then all the sudden Snap, Bang and I yell "It's unloaded!" He jumped out of the pickup and he's all upset and in shock so I say "Honey, hate to tell you I told you so about that rope, but it's unloaded."
We didn't do any damage to the boat thank goodness. Another one of those building memories days.

Otherwise house cleaning today. In the summer time the inside of the house always suffers. So much to tend to outside, and working full time, that I really don't care if the dust is making layers. Oh and not to mention that I have to save some time to do some quilting.

I did get my two quilts back from Deb Z, my longarm quilter. She did a beautiful job. Just love them!!!! I will take pictures and post them soon. I have to get my binding fabric together and do the binding yet. I always think about every quilt I just finish and think it is the prettiest one I've done yet. I hope that I will always feel that way about every one of them I do.

Housework awaits for me.

Grateful for:

1. My new straw hat
2. New kitchen broom (instead of a junky dollar store like one I had)
3. Having a good friend who has a longarm quilting machine that makes my quilts even more beautiful.
4. Always having trouble trying to pick just only 4 things when I have so many.

The weekend

Had a somewhat busy weekend. All of the yard is mowed and it looks great!! Hubby got the shed cleaned out and looks good. Played a little basketball with our daughter Amanda. It is not really a game.. just shooting hoops or trying too....

Back to work today. Hubby bought us a little boat. Needs some tinkering but it will serve the purpose of fishing. It has been a while since we have been out in a boat fishing. We have been just shore fishing for about 2-3 years. So I'll have to get my sea/lake legs back again. I wonder how ZuZu will like the boat. This will be her first time on one.

It will seem like a short week this week. 2 days work'n-1 off- 2 days work'n then the weekend again. Wow it seems that the older I get the faster time flys. Remember the days when you were a teen and monday would roll around and you just couldn't wait for the big doings coming up on the weekend and you thought you would die before it would get there!! I remember and wish time would stand still like that on the weekends or holidays.

Have a Great 4th Of July!!!

Greatful for:

1. Naps in the afternoon
2. A husband that can grill the best chicken
3. Straw hat to keep the sun off my face (I need a new one)
4. Air conditioning in my house

Beautiful Day

What a beautiful day it is going to be. My eyes opened at 5:30 am and I could hear our resident pheasant outside of my window. He is really getting big. No predators except for our little Yorkie ZuZu (zoo-zoo) who likes to bark and chase him out of the yard. Love her to pieces!!!

I haven't done any quilting, sewing or crafting lately. I have a million and one ideas. I just need to capture one and do it. I did finish 2 quilts. One is a scrappy quilt and the other I named "My purple passion which I am going to enjoy snuggling under this winter maybe while trying to do a little needlework.

Talking of needlework and quilting I just love Leanne Beasley's work http://leanneshouse.typepad.com/
I would love to get some of her patterns and create. She also has the 365 quilt challenge. I don't know if I could truely complete that. I guess if I got all the pieces cut and supplies needed and then left it by my nightstand to write on every night then maybe. Just don't know if it would be interesting. Would every block say "Got up, went to work, ate, time for bed". I guess I would need to just be open minded like my title said this morning "Beautiful Day". Maybe I need to be a little more, what is the word, responsive-open minded-receptive-creative-explorative or maybe instead of a word maybe just stop and smell the roses.

Talking about stoping and smelling the roses. My darling husband is begining to learn what that saying means. I love to watch his energy and his focus. It has taken me about 21 years but I think that I may have gotten him to enjoy the present a little. The property we bought, 4 acres in 2001, had only one tree on it and since then we, mainly hubby, okay hubby have planted too many trees to even begin to count. So when he stops mowing and just sets there and stairs around at the trees I say to myself "He's smell'n the roses". What a great sight to see, it gives me that happy feeling in my heart.

The 4th of July is in the middle of the week this year so it is kind of a bummer cuz no 3 day weekend. Our plans are that we are going to do a little fishing and hopefully catch something we can keep and eat. The last time we went fishing the ice was still on the lake and my tackle got caught on the edge and I couldn't get it free so DH helped and snap went the poll so guess what I got.......A NEW POLL!! Oh well I had that one for a few years so time to upgrade. Like hubby and I say, "Building memories!"

I believe that I have rambled on plenty enough for today.
I am going to go enjoy this Beautiful Day!!

To be truely blessed in life you need to be greatful for even the little things.

Greatful for:

1. Puppy kisses and pheasant squaks in the morning
2. My husbands arms in a good morning embrace
3. A beautiful sunrise
4. Cherrios

New Blog

This is a new blog for me. This will be all new experience.
I will try to post once a week or when possible. I am inspired by all the talented and crafty ladies out there and thought I would jump into the blogging ring.
